Maintenance Engineer
Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oat drink company that started in Sweden back 30 or so years ago.
We’ve emerged as a leading and trailblazing player in the dairy-alternative market. As we continue to solidify our presence, we're committed to shaping the future of the food and beverage industry. With our rapid growth, we're on the lookout for more brilliant minds to come work with us to maintain our momentum and keep the oat drink flowing.
Our mission is to make it easy for people to eat better and live healthier lives without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources. If this resonates with you, then maybe you’d like work for Oatly, too. So, let’s get to the formal stuff.
The Role
The Role
We're looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Vlissingen.
What makes this role different is the breadth of ownership. This is a highly autonomous role where you'll act as the technical expert behind our maintenance strategy, asset reliability, shutdown planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll influence everything from daily reliability improvements to long-term asset strategies, helping to ensure the reliability and future performance of one of Oatly's most important production facilities. You will collaborate closely with the Maintenance Coordinator and the rest of the team.
Here’s the main elements of the role:
Drive our maintenance reliability strategy by developing and continuously improving maintenance plans, inspections, calibrations, and equipment strategies using reliability-centered and risk-based maintenance principles.
Lead technical analyses and planning activities, including RCA (Root Cause Analysis), MOC (Management of Change), criticality assessments, annual maintenance budget preparation, shutdown and turnaround planning, and long-term asset management strategies to improve plant reliability and performance.
Become the driving force behind our CMMS/D365 environment, using data, asset insights, and maintenance performance metrics to improve decision-making, reliability, and spare parts management.
Depending on your experience and certifications, you may also take ownership as IV-Responsible (NEN-1010/NEN-3140), providing technical leadership in electrical safety and compliance, and participate in the site's call-out duty.
Who You Are
Whether you're an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for greater ownership, or an ambitious engineer ready for your next step, we'd love to hear from you!
You hold an MBO+ or HBO degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), Maintenance Engineering, or a related technical field.
You have experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, or technical operations within an industrial environment.
You enjoy solving technical problems and combining hands-on technical knowledge with analytical thinking, systems expertise, and continuous improvement.
You are comfortable working on a tactical level, using data and systems to make informed decisions. Experience with CMMS systems, asset management, and D365 is a strong advantage.
Knowledge of ATEX, NEN-1010/NEN-3140, reliability engineering methodologies, or food manufacturing environments is welcome but not essential.
You are structured, proactive, analytical, collaborative, and fluent in both Dutch and English.
Another bulleted list felt redundant, so we wrote this long sentence with all the ways we sweeten the deal to work with us: a market competitive salary, 8% holiday allowance, a 13th-month bonus, a call-out allowance, 27 vacation days plus public holidays, great coffee (with as much oat milk as you like), free fruit at work, a fully employer-funded pension plan, a bike leasing program with a €35 monthly contribution from Oatly, a net vitality allowance, and several other benefits designed to help you stay healthy, happy, and energized.
[Phew! Well done if you’ve got this far. We’re glad we’ve still got your attention because we’ve got one last super important point to make.
As you can probably tell, we’re a norm-breaking company. For us, diversity and differences are an obvious asset. We know that amazing candidates can sometimes be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box, and that makes us really sad. So please trust your gut and pop in your application if it’s feeling right. Good luck!]
