Process Engineer
Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oat drink company that started in Sweden about 25 years ago. Since then, we’ve grown into a global pioneering dairy-alternative brand, and we’re on a mission to make it easy for people to eat better and live healthier lives—without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process. If that resonates with you, maybe you’d like to work for Oatly too.
We’re continuing to grow and shake up the food and beverage industry, and we need more brilliant minds to keep the momentum going and the oat drink flowing. So, let’s get to the formal stuff.
The Role
We’re looking for a Process Engineer with a strong continuous improvement mindset to join our team. This role is all about making our production setup better—technically and operationally—while driving sustainability and efficiency.
In this role you’ll:
Engineer process improvements to reduce losses, boost efficiency and sustainability, and improve cost, safety, and quality.
Track and present process performance at daily meetings.
Take ownership of operational losses and lead root cause analyses.
Identify opportunities for improvement and plan, facilitate, or lead execution.
Collaborate with global engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.
Provide technical support during product scale-up and troubleshooting.
Prepare and maintain flow diagrams, P&IDs, SOPs, and operating manuals.
Support CAPEX and innovation projects with technical documentation.
Coach and educate colleagues in continuous improvement methods.
Who You Are
To be successful in this role you will have 5 plus years of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or continuous improvement working experience under your belt. You have excellent root cause analyses and problem-solving skills and can quickly understand production processes. What’s more, you enjoy working together with others and build sound relationships.
If we can be picky, we hope to see that you check these boxes as well:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
5+ years of experience in a similar role.
Experience in the food or beverage manufacturing industry.
Experience in continuous improvement.
Strong technical knowledge of production equipment (e.g. pumps, valves, separators, heat exchangers).
Excellent problem-solving skills and a data-driven mindset.
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships.
A proactive, improvement-driven mindset with attention to detail.
Your Application
Another bulleted list felt redundant, so we wrote this long, awkward sentence to let you know all the ways we sweeten the deal to work with us: 20 days paid vacation plus paid sick time, really great benefits that include medical, dental, vision and life (yes, pet insurance is in there), paid volunteer days off throughout the year (doing good is fun), free six packs of...(drumroll)…oatmilk, and you’ll also get genuinely great co-workers who are cool to hang out with.
The salary for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. Our good faith estimate for base salary is $95,000-$110,000.
Our team is available to support you through the hiring process with reasonable accommodations to enable a barrier-free interview experience. We will maintain candidate privacy and confidentiality to enable an unbiased and equitable experience. If you need assistance applying for a role due to a disability or special need, please contact Re.Droge@oatly.com.
Oatly is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
