As the PR Director for the Nordics, you will lead our communication efforts across the region. Your mission? Ensure everyone knows and loves Oatly, with a strong focus on Sweden, the birthplace of our company. Additionally, you will play a key role in promoting the shift towards plant-based dairy alternatives.
You’ll partner with key executives, cross-functional colleagues, ODMC (branding and advertising team), and other internal teams (like Sustainability, Nutrition, Innovation, Legal, and Regulatory) to coherently further the company’s mission, identify and tackle business threats and overall ensure a holistic approach to everything we do externally.
You’ll set the PR strategic ambition and make sure it’s implemented across your markets. You’ll also ensure Oatly is leading the conversation on sustainability and nutrition in your key markets, all while keeping with the Oatly voice.
The role reports into the Executive Creative Director for the Nordics.
The role will be based in Sweden, with a preference for candidates based in Malmö or Stockholm and requires occasional travel to our Malmö headquarters as well as travel to the markets you will cover.
Native/full professional proficiency in Swedish and English is required.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
- 10+ years in public relations and communications. We need someone versatile and multi-talented who understands and can handle everything from campaign amplification to public affairs, crisis management, media training, and stakeholder engagement.
- A proven track-record of building successful programs.
- Experience with a publicly-traded company operating in multiple countries is a big plus. Working in regional offices of a global company is also preferred.
- Strong media relations and networking abilities.
- The ability to speak confidently and clearly with media, government, and regulatory leaders to foster strong relationships that help our business and cause.
- You can juggle (metaphorically, but literal juggling is a cool bonus!). You know how to prioritize projects across multiple markets with different goals and timelines.
- Experience in sustainability and reputation management is a plus.
- A collaborative spirit to work with colleagues to create and activate programs
- Impeccable attention to detail.
- A proactive & reactive mindset. You need to be always looking for opportunities to drive the plant-based movement through PR. You also need to be ready to lead reactively in crisis situations.
- A bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field is useful but not mandatory.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO:
- Lead and execute comprehensive PR plans that, in alignement with the strategic priorities of the Nordics markets.
- Drive and lead all communications activities that boost our brand’s visibility and reputation, supports the strategic priorities of your markets,and ultimately help people make the shift to plant-based dairy.
- Plan and coordinate PR events, product launches, and media briefings for maximum media coverage.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
- Pitch stories and secure media coverage in top-tier publications.
- Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries in your markets.
- Craft compelling press releases, media kits, and other PR materials, ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
- Handle any PR crises with professionalism and tact. Should an issue arise, work within our crisis response model to create and implement communications strategies.
- Leverage senior leadership and craft visibility plans to amplify Oatly’s presence in the region.
- Work closely with local market leadership to understand competitive landscapes and build programs that further Oatly’s business interests.
- Cultivate relationships with government officials, policymakers, regulatory bodies, and trade associations.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory risks to Oatly’s business and prepare action plans in consultation with the Public Affairs team. You help protect our business from regulatory threats that usually originate from those who don’t agree with our mission.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with key advocacy partners and organizations.
- Manage and oversee relevant agencies and association relationships in your markets.
- Ensure best-in-class delivery from our agency .
- Push back against misconceptions about Oatly, especially those spread by established industries.
- Ensure adequate media training for relevant stakeholders in your region. Support Oatly’s spokespersons when preparing for interviews or speaking opportunities.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments. Provide insights and recommendations to the team.
- Monitor the budget, making sure we are spending wisely.
- Act as a company spokesperson in relevant situations.
WHO WE NEED YOU TO BE:
- You are a PR & Comms polymath who not only understands how to amplify campaign work, but is also well aware of what it takes to put and keep Oatly on the front foot and the forefront of the important conversations.
- You’re corporate but not “corporate.” Oatly is a unique place and while we must run a professional organization, we don’t like to work with robots.
- You’re both a strategist and a hands-on doer.
- You welcome ambiguity as an opportunity to move forward.
- You’re good at adapting and changing direction.
- You are resourceful, self-motivated and love to solve problems.
- You are a strong writer.
- You are able to communicate effectively in a high pace environment.
