OATLY IN THE UK
Oatly are building their first UK factory in Peterborough and it’s expected to be finished in early 2023. The oats will be sourced locally within the UK and we anticipate we will be able to produce 300 million litres of oat drink per year at launch! That’s a lot of oat drink and it will make it one of the largest plant-based dairy factories in the world. THE WORLD.
And we wouldn’t be Oatly if we didn’t mention sustainability and that it’s at the heart of the planning process. We’re working to ensure the new factory brings value to the people and the planet without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources. We aim to use 100% renewable energy, and decrease its energy consumption, water consumption and waste by 75% each at the factory, by 2029 compared to Oatly’s environmental footprint in 2019.
The new UK factory will continue Oatly’s drive to create a systemic shift in society and the food system towards a plant-based future. That’s better for people and better for the planet too.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
More and more people choose to switch to a plant-based diet for the sake of their health and the planet. We offer you a great opportunity to take an active part in the expansion of a great company with great products. If you’re getting a tingly feeling reading this, thinking you want to be part of making sure Oatly can actively making the world a better place, we are happy to tell you that we are looking for a Health & Safety Specialist for our site in Peterborough.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Your mission as a Health & safety Specialist will be to work collaboratively with the Operational teams to deliver the Health and Safety site plan and maintain the Safety Management System to the accredited standard (ISO 45001). You need to be confident you can give competent advice and guidance to the Site Leadership Team, and employees at all levels to ensure the highest possible standards of safety and health are achieved and that both legislation and Oatly’s Health and Safety Policy is complied with. You also need to be a bit of a marketeer and actively promote an engaging calendar of preventative health and safety activities.
This is a brand new facility and you will support all on-going activities on a 24-hour, 7 day a week basis covering both production and packing.
More fun things you will do:
You will be reporting to the SHEQ Manager and you’ll need to be willing to travel to other manufacturing sites globally to learn about Oatly! You will also have regular calls across the globe. You need to be energised by uncertainty and by building things from the ground up.
WHO YOU ARE
With a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety, you’ll need previous Health & Safety experience gained within manufacturing and a comprehensive understanding of current and proposed Safety Legislation and relevant standards. We are looking for someone who has experience of working within a best practice environment (ideally food) and who has successfully implemented and worked with a Health and Safety Management System. Experience of working with a behavioural safety culture and of facilitating and collaborating to support alignment, creativity and results would be perfect.
